Carl Cox shooting
Cox was headlining the event, called Red Noise, at La Rinconada Terrace in Caracas, Venezuela. The VJ reports that Cox was only 10 minutes into his set when an unknown man opened fire, the gun making a noise that sounded to him “like firecrackers”. He reports seeing 3 bodies on the floor immediately following the shooting.
Steve Angello vs Paris Hilton
Angello claims Hilton repeatedly asked him to play hip-hop. Hilton claims she only asked him to play Bob Sinclar [a] or Daft Punk.
But whatever went down, it led to a big fight. Hilton’s friend Doug Reinhardt and her entourage got a kicking for apparently slapping Steve Angello.
Steve Lawler bullied by Mexican Bouncers
Steve Lawler has vowed to never return to Guadalajara, Mexico, after being threatened by club bouncers and forced to play an extra hour after a musical dispute escalated into confrontation.
“I had played for 2 hours, and things were going fine, and then the owner of the club wanted me to play a 15 min, techno/ trance record which was about 160 bpm,” Steve said in a message posted on various news groups last week.
“So of course I refused, I knew nothing about this performance and I wasn’t about to break up what I had built musically. So they told me to play the record or get off.”
Steve’s manager, Joel Zimmerman, who was present during the incident alongside Steve’s girlfriend, continued the story in a legal letter distributed afterwards.
“My client and I were very clear to the club promoter and club staff that once Steve was off the decks, and, had played for almost 2.5 hours, that we were done and were calling it a night,” he said.
“As we walked out of the club and headed to the car, our party (Steve, his girlfriend and I) were surrounded by ten bouncers from the club and three of the acting club owners” he continued.
“The bouncers started to get physical with myself instructing me to not move and told Steve that he had to go inside immediately. We were then forced to walk back into the club escorted by the bouncers and owners. Steve went back on – still surrounded by bouncers – and played for an additional hour then quietly exited.”
“This was a very scary incident that I never want to find myself in again,” Steve added. “I’m sorry for those of you that live there, but I will never again come to Guadalajara, I will however be doing shows in other parts of Mexico, but I will never step foot into that city again. Sorry,” he added.Christopher Lawrence vs FBI
Christopher Lawrence explaining how the entire airport was evacuated when authorities found traces of explosives on a box of music equipment that was being sent over to Australia to construct his studio in a 2003 interview
"I was interviewed by the transportation authority, bomb squad, federal security and the FBI. I think I spoke to around thirty officials in total before I was released. It wasn’t all that long ago that DJs were only stopped at customs on suspicion of carrying drugs but now they think I’m carry explosive. It’s not easy being a DJ."
There are so many other hard stuff that djs/producers/music artists have to go through. So if you think being a musician is an easy job, think again!
Word to Steve Lawler! I heard about this when it happened a few years ago. They threatened him and his girlfriend with machine guns too! I wouldn't play a record I didn't want to... word to him and sticking to his values!
